Kubota Environmental Engineering Corporation (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Kento Yahata; hereinafter “Kubota Environmental Engineering”), a wholly owned subsidiary of Kubota Corporation (Head Office: Kita-ku, Osaka; President and Representative Director, CEO: Shingo Hanada), has established a local subsidiary, Kubota Water and Environment Malaysia SDN. BHD., in Malaysia, which will commence operations on October 28, 2026.
1. Background and Objectives
- Under its Mid-Term Business Plan 2030, the Kubota Group positions its Water & Environment business as a Value-Up business and identifies the expansion of its overseas operations as one of its Key Growth Drivers.
- In Malaysia, demand for treated wastewater reuse is increasing, while the growth of data centers and semiconductor-related industries is expected to create further business opportunities in the fields of pure water treatment and industrial wastewater treatment.
- Kubota Environmental Engineering has established a local subsidiary in Malaysia to leverage the advanced water and wastewater treatment technologies and extensive expertise it has developed in Japan. By deepening collaboration with local partners and strengthening its business foundation in Malaysia, while working closely with its existing overseas bases in Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Taiwan, the company aims to expand its business across Asia.
2. Business Activities in Malaysia
- In response to Malaysian policies promoting the reuse of treated wastewater and related market needs, Kubota Environmental Engineering will position wastewater recycling using MBR technology as one of its key business areas. The company will also provide drainage pumping systems that contribute to urban flood mitigation, pure water treatment facilities for semiconductor-related industries, and industrial wastewater treatment and recycling facilities that help customers comply with increasingly stringent environmental regulations.
- In addition to design and construction services, the company will provide solutions that include operation and maintenance (O&M) services. It will also utilize KEMOS, a proprietary remote monitoring application on the KSIS BLUE FRONT facility management platform, to support the stable operation of customer facilities through the collection of operational data, early detection of potential abnormalities, and proposals for facility improvements.
- MBR (Membrane Bioreactor): Wastewater treatment technology that combines biological treatment by microorganisms with solid-liquid separation treatment by membranes.
